On November 7, 2025 (local time), the Korea Research Institute of Decommissioning (KRID) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with VTT, 

Finland’s state-owned research institution, to strengthen cooperation in nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management.

The main areas of collaboration include:

Technologies for nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste treatment and disposal

Development of radionuclide analysis and characterization technologies

Training and capacity building for decommissioning professionals

The two organizations agreed to closely collaborate in these fields and to jointly develop practical cooperation programs in the near future. Through this partnership, KRID and VTT anticipate expanding international joint research and project implementation in nuclear decommissioning and radioactive waste management.
